疲れた毎日の中でふと目の前にある自然。８０センチほどのもみの木をこの庭に植えたのは何年前だろう。
いつの間にか家をも追い越すほどの多きさに成長。
アメリカではこの程度のもみの木 今の時期には
サウスコーストにもニューポートビーチにもフアーマーズマーケットにもこの数倍ものもみの木がもう飾られているだろう。
でもここは日本の片田舎、私たちの家の庭なのだ。
私がつかれ、ため息をついているときももみの木は成長し続けた。
そして今私に深い安らぎと信頼を与えてくれている。

I find nature in front of my eyes in the midst of my weary days
How many years ago was it that I planted that christmas tree that was only about 80cm tall.
It grew taller than the house before we knew it.
In the United States, Christmas trees about this size or a few times taller
would be decorated at South Coast Plaza, New Port Beach, or Farmer’s Market by now.
But here I am, in the back of my house deep in the country.
Even while I was exhausted, sighing, the tree continued to grow.
And now it is giving me deep peace and trust.
